Autumn Reflections

I've been missing coming to my blog, but Mama has been really busy and has trouble to keep up with writing new posts. She takes me for walks every day, unless it's raining cats and dogs... (whoever came with that odd expression...). We still come to read our friends posts, but the new stuff kinda gets behind. Anyway, Mama said, little time she has, she'd rather take me for a walk than type things about me. I think she is right on that one! We will keep coming to visit our friends and show some new things of mine soon!!

Pedicure Drama

Why don’t humans just accept the fact that my nails are off limits!!? Mama has been patiently trying to get me used to my feet being touched, and feet massage feels ok, but I still don’t like my nails being cut. When they get long mama takes me to the vet and the technicians cut my nails. I know it has to be done, but I hate it!!

Mama did treat me afterwards to a nice warm bath. Loved it!! And sun feels so good…

Mama Has Gone Too Far...!

Ok, humans are different, we know, but Mama has gone over board with tomato plants. This year was the first time that Mama has been growing tomatoes. Big deal... ? Apparently yes, for her. The plants are in pots. Since we live in a place where the temperature jumps up to 30 deg F between day and night, Mama has been moving the plants in the mornings from the house to the deck and back home at night. I'm a little tired of all the commotion and attention the plants are getting... They are just tomatoes! I don't even care to eat them! My human nephew CK and Mama even gave the names to the first few little green balls. Now we have the entire solar system growing on the vines. Jupiter was the first to turn red. CK and Mama every day examined the tomato planet and made predictions when it will be ready to pick. CK and Mama planned and practiced the technique of picking the fruit without disturbing the neighboring fruit planets. We can all sleep peacefully now; the Earth is still on the vine but I already wonder what will happen to all of us when the time comes to pick the Earth tomato off the vine...

BTW Jupiter ended up on the lunch plate today... Mama said it was super delicious. Can't wait for the rest to be eaten, so the life can go on…

Swimming Lesson

My human nephew, CK, comes sometimes to visit mama and her family. This time he came for a couple of weeks. I like when he comes to visit; he plays with me a lot, walks with me and mama and sometimes we all go together to the lake. CK didn’t know how to swim, until I showed him a proper way to doggy paddle. He is a smart kid, so he picked it up in an instant. Now he is a master of doggy paddle style. I’m very proud to have such a talented boy as my nephew.

My New Home

I like my new home a lot. I was never comfortable in my old , dirty and muddy outside kennel. Mama told me the first day that bathroom for me is outside and I remembered right away. She started to take me outside for regular potty breaks 5 times a day, but I really needed to go out only 4 times. I don’t have to be nervous and worry about how long I need to “hold it”. I know the potty break will come for me on time.
On my first day in the new home, mama walked around the entire house with me and let me smell everything. It was great; I could learn and remember everything about my new house. Then for 3-4 days mama kept me close by her on the leash through the entire day. I thought, gee, she really needs me to protect her… It was kind of cool to be her shadow. Later she took off the leash and let me run around the house. At 3 ½ I way passed the chewing phase and had no interest in destroying slippers. I learned the boundaries quick: can’t lie on the couch, but that’s ok. There are other comfy places I can lounge on.
I always thought I belonged in a real house. My wish finally came true! My coat is finally clean and shiny and I’m never cold or hungry. Mama takes me for walks every day and sometimes for car rides. I especially like the car rides. I can look out the window and catch the air with all different smells, greet other dogs and people or just kick back and enjoy the views.
I have few beds in different rooms but at night I sleep on mama’s bed. I warm up her spot before she comes in and then I curl up beside her. That is my favorite part of the day.

Little Princess

So, I came to live with my new mama and her family. When I first came in mama already had another dog – a small Beagle princess. She was the lady of the house, anyone could tell. She was also very sick. For over 4 years she was battling cancer. She had 2 surgeries and many doctor’s visits but she didn’t seem to get better. Her life was filled with pain and discomfort. Mama was very sad many times, because she couldn’t find the way to help her little princess. Then there was that one day last spring that mama took the little princess to the doctor but later came back without her. Mama was very sad for many days and she was crying a lot. She told me that little princess went to doggy heaven, that she is no longer in pain, and that she will be playing every day with Rex and Brittany who were in doggy heaven already. Mama told me that all dogs in doggy heaven are young again, strong and happy to play together with other dogs. Hmm, I think I’d rather play with mama… I miss little princess though… She didn’t seem to care too much about me when I first came, but she taught me how to behave in the house. For most of my life I lived in the small outdoor kennel, so house manners were unknown to me. I miss little princess, she was a good friend…
